Hello Ladies! Just a little message from a past lesson to keep us going throughout the week.
RS lesson on 6-17:
Sister Sheri Dew said:
"We are not alone -- at least, we're alone only if we
choose to be alone. We're alone only if we choose to go through life relying
solely on our own strength rather than learning to draw upon the power of God.
Thus, the question for each of us is, what do we believe?
Do we believe there is a power in the gospel of Jesus
Christ, power in the Atonement, power in the gift of the Holy Ghost, power in
the ordinances of the temple, power in the Word to help us, guide us, and
strengthen us far beyond any individual gifts we may have? Do we believe the
promise the Lord has made countless times, epitomized by this verse: 'If thou
shalt ask, thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon
knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things -- that
which bringeth joy, that which bringeth life eternal' (D&C 42:61)
As compelling as those words are, what the Lord did not
say is perhaps of equal interest. He did not say that if you're the President
of the Church, or a stake president, or have been married in the temple, or have
raised seven children to serve missions, you may receive these things. He said,
'If thou shalt ask,' putting the responsibility for seeking the Lord directly on
our shoulders and within reach of anyone"
